A welcome

You're welcome here

Imam Sherif keeps his door open to every member of the community — whether you're navigating marriage, raising a family, new to Islam, or simply have something on your heart.

As the resident Imam he leads prayer and offers guidance, and beyond the masjid he answers the call as a chaplain for Stafford Fire & Rescue — sitting with people in their hardest moments. That same care comes to every conversation he has.

Sensitive matters, such as marital or family counseling, are always treated with the utmost confidentiality.

A life of service

Imam Sherif has a passion for helping and uplifting others — in moments of celebration, in times of grief, and in the quiet questions in between.

For over twenty years he has been a religious leader to the Muslim communities of Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Culpeper, and has served as the Imam of Masjid Aliya since 2010 — leading prayer and the Friday khutbah, performing weddings and funerals, and walking with families through marriage, difficulty, and everything in between.

His path bridges law and faith: he earned a law degree from Ain Shams University, studying British, French, and Islamic law, and studied Hadith under Al-Azhar scholars, with diplomatic studies at the University of Vienna. He speaks English, Arabic, and German.

Beyond the masjid, he serves as a chaplain for Stafford Fire & Rescue and the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, and gives back as Vice President of the Stafford Diversity Advisory Coalition and a member of the county’s Faith Leaders Advisory Committee.
